College Ready?

A question that lingers in many parent’s minds - will my teen be prepared for college if they go to Springhouse Community School? Now, while I can’t answer it for you, I can definitely answer it for my family - YES!

Studies have shown that two big factors that contribute to the success of college students are emotional intelligence and how social relationships are managed. Throw in managing and prioritizing coursework and I’ve basically described a day at Springhouse.

From day one at Springhouse, kids explore their emotions and those of their peers, using the information to guide them through relationships. There are ups and there are downs - nothing is off limits to talk about, and at the end of the day, it’s all laid down on the dance floor. As freshmen, the kids are emailing mentors, corresponding with internships and jobs, some locally and some in another country. For my teens, there were phone calls and skype calls, there were plane trips to Chicago, there were car rides to Asheville, and Nashville, and Charleston, and Wisconsin, and to the barrier islands of Virginia and the hollers of Tennessee.

My oldest child is currently in her first year of college, 4 plus hours from home, and she would, without a doubt, credit her time at Springhouse as time well spent in preparation for this next journey.
