Birthday Blessings

- Written by Haley Leopold, Springhouse Lead Teacher -

There is a tradition we have at Springhouse that I hold close to my heart. For each birthday, whether a staff member's or a student's, we gather for a birthday blessing, during which we sing and each member of our learning community shares something they love about the person. It is a special moment where we are able to celebrate someone and they receive love from the peers and adults in their life. There is often laughter, sometimes tears, and always a lot of gratitude.

Having been a part of the Springhouse community for over three years, it's these moments that I treasure the most. They so clearly demonstrate the love that fuels everything we do and allows for the beautiful and challenging work of transformation to unfold here on a daily basis.
